If it wasn’t for you…
Think of someone you rely on. When was the last time you actually told them?
When we asked people to share moments when they most felt that they mattered at work, one of the most common answers was surprisingly simple:
Someone showed them how they were uniquely needed.
On the other hand, people who tended to disengage, withdraw, and languish often said things like: “No one would miss me if I were gone.” “They could replace me with anyone.” “I’m just a number.”
Today, finish this sentence for someone: “If it wasn’t for you…”
You might be the reason they remember that they matter and stay.
People show up where they’re needed.
